Los Angeles School Police Patch

Police are investigating the death of a person found lying Sunday, possibly in an alley, in the Crenshaw community of Los Angeles.

Police were dispatched at 6:02 a.m. to the vicinity of La Brea Avenue and Coliseum Street, said Los Angeles police Sgt. Philip Ybarra of the South Traffic Division.

Ybarra said the victim was pronounced dead at an area hospital. The gender of the victim was not immediately known.

The victim was discovered lying in an alley, according to a source at the scene.

“We know a victim is deceased at the hospital,” Ybarra said. “We don’t know if it’s the result of a traffic collision or any other kind of injury. We’re not really sure.”
