Police found and returned a 3-year-old girl to her family Saturday morning in South Los Angeles.

The youngster was found wandering near the intersection of 41st Street and Avalon Boulevard at 3:20 a.m., said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Robert Calderon, watch commander at Newton Division.

“The little girl just got up after everyone went to bed and decided she wanted to get something to eat,” Calderon said. “So, she left her place and began walking around.”

Calderon said the toddler was able to give officers her name and where she lived. She was reunited with her mother about 10 minutes after she was found.

“She’s a lucky little girl,” he said.
