An Agua Dulce man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges stemming from an alleged DUI crash in Stevenson Ranch that killed one of his passengers and injured two others.

Michael Blake Palazzola, 24, is charged with one felony count of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and two felony counts of driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

He was initially arrested the day of the crash, then released later that day on bond. He was taken into custody again Wednesday in lieu of $360,000 bail, according to jail records.

He is due back in a San Fernando courtroom March 10.

The charges stem from a Jan. 16 crash near Stevenson Ranch Parkway and Pico Canyon Road that left Steven Richard Kirk, 22, dead.

Palazzola was driving Kirk’s vehicle at the time of the crash, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Two women who were also in the vehicle survived their injuries, prosecutors said.

Palazzola was allegedly speeding westbound on Stevenson Ranch Parkway, approaching the intersection with Pico Canyon Road, at about 2:10 a.m. that day when the front of the 2011 Ford Fiesta hit a raised concrete curb, continued off the roadway and struck a large boulder, authorities said after the crash.

The Ford then overturned and struck a tree, coming to rest back on its wheels, authorities said then.
