A man who tried to break into a house in Monterey Park Wednesday was chased off by a resident, police said.
A man in his late 20s wearing a black/green possibly camouflaged jacket and a large necklace rang the doorbell of a home about 2:30 p.m., then entered the back yard, police said.
The resident was home and startled the suspect by knocking on the rear glass door. The suspect ran and got away, police said.
The attempt to enter the house should be a warning to all Monterey Park residents, police said.
“If you see suspicious activity or someone not belonging in your neighborhood, call the police department and report it,” police said.
