A 53-year-old Carson man accused of shooting and killing his 18-year-old son during an argument at their home was behind bars without bail Monday pending a Tuesday court appearance.

Anderson Lyiscott was due to appear in a Compton courtroom, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s inmate records.

Jiovanni Lyiscott was in his bedroom in the 17400 block of Prondall Court when he and his father, Anderson Lyiscott, got into an argument just before 6:16 p.m. Saturday, and it escalated into a physical confrontation, said Deputy Mike Barraza of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

When the father pulled a firearm, the two men struggled until one round was fired, hitting the victim, Barraza said.

The young man was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Anderson Lyiscott was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder, Barraza said. Deputies are continuing their investigation, he said.

Anyone with information on the shooting was urged to call the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau (323) 890-5500. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
