A 47-year-old man suspected of molesting an 8-year- old girl while she visited a West Covina drug store with her mother was behind bars Thursday, police reported.
Cresencio Flores Cardenas was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Friday in the 18000 block of Northam Street in La Puente, according to Officer Rudy Lopez of the West Covina Police Department.
Cardenas is accused of approaching the victim while she was separated from her mother at a CVS store at 3670 S. Nogales St. in West Covina and touching her inappropriately below the waist from behind before walking away, Lopez said.
After he was located, Cardenas was identified by the girl as the alleged molester and was booked on one count of committing a lewd act upon a child, the officer said.
Cardenas was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail at the Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles and is due in court in Pomona on March 23, according to sheriff’s online jail records.
