A man suspected of grabbing a hair stylist in a Van Nuys salon, dragging her to the back of the shop and raping her was in custody Friday on $1 million bail, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
Enrique Orozco, 30, was arrested late Thursday night by detectives from the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division and booked on suspicion of kidnap for rape, said LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman.
The assault occurred about 7 p.m. Tuesday at Vanessa’s Beauty & Barber shop in the 14500 block of Vanowen Street.
Police said the suspect entered the salon and waited while the victim finished with a client. When the client left, the suspect dragged the victim to the back of the empty shop, where he raped her.
The attack was captured on surveillance video, according to LAPD Lt. Jim Gavin.
“In my 28 years, I’ll never forget this. This was shocking,” he said earlier this week. “I had never imagined I would witness something like that based on video.”
