The crash was reported at about 9:55 a.m. in the 3300 block of West Fifth Street, near Vermont Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Witnesses told CBS2 the man tried to get into a restaurant bathroom, but it was occupied.

He then left, got into his car, drove across Vermont Avenue and into the front of the restaurant before driving around to the side and striking the building again, the station reported.

The man was taken into police custody and booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, according to ABC7, which reported that he was 42.
