A woman’s body was found Wednesday inside a Long Beach apartment after police, responding to an unspecified trouble call, encountered a wounded man who allegedly threatened them with a knife and tried to keep them from entering the complex.
Police had to use less-than-lethal options to take the uncooperative man into custody at the apartment complex in the 1200 block of Stanley Avenue at 12:50 p.m., said Long Beach police Sgt. Brad Johnson.
The unidentified man was taken to a hospital with at least one stab wound and was listed in critical condition, according to the sergeant. He was regarded as a possible suspect, but his relationship, if any, to the as-yet unidentified dead woman was unclear, police said.
Homicide detectives were sent to the scene.
