A suspect in the attempted sexual assaults of at least two women and a teenager in South Los Angeles Wetlands Park was behind bars Monday.

Los Angeles Police Department officials are expected to discuss details of the arrest at an afternoon news conference.

Police said earlier the attacks began in October, when the man approached a woman from behind as she was walking in the park, tackled her to the ground and got on top of her, striking her several times as she struggled with him before he fled.

The man approached a woman in February as she ran in the park, grabbed her and attempted to pull her pants down, exposed himself, then fled when another person approached, police said.

In March, the man approached a 17-year-old girl as she ran in the park, exposed himself and grabbed her but fled when another person approached, according to police.

Detectives said last month there may be victims of unreported incidents and asked for the public’s assistance in locating them.
