[symple_googlemap title=”Gorman brush fire” location=”State Rout 138 and Cement Plant Road, Gorman, CA” height=”300″ zoom=”13″]A brush fire broke out Friday afternoon in a remote area of Gorman near state Route 138, blackening about six acres before crews got the upper hand.

No structures were threatened in the blaze, which was reported at 1:07 p.m. near the highway and Cement Plant Road in northern Los Angeles County. Firefighters arrived on scene at 1:25 p.m.

“There’s not much out there, which is why it took us so long to get there,” said Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector Richard Licon.

He said 10 engines and four helicopters from the Los Angeles County and Kern County fire departments were involved in the firefight.
