A seriously injured man was found on the subway tracks in Hollywood Sunday, forcing Red Line subway service to stop in both directions for more than an hour.

The fire department did not have immediate information on how or why the man was on the underground, electric rail tracks at the Hollywood/Vine station, 6250 W. Hollywood Blvd. And it was not immediately clear if a train hit him.

Firefighters got reports of a person on the tracks at 3:12 p.m., said Margaret Atwood of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

He was removed from the tracks and transported in serious condition, Atwood said.

Subway trains between North Hollywood and Union Station were disrupted for more than an hour.
