A standoff in Buena Park between a police SWAT team and a man seen with a rifle on a rooftop has ended peacefully, authorities said Monday.

The standoff ended just before midnight when police negotiators persuaded the 29-year-old man to come out without incident, said Buena Park Police Sgt. Mike Lovchik.

Officers saw the man on a rooftop at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday on 11th Street between Beach Boulevard and Stanton Avenue, Lovchik said. They were in the area investigating a drug lab explosion in a garage in the 7700 block of 11th Street in which a man was critically burned.

The SWAT team was activated, taking positions around the home into which the gunman retreated, Lovchik said.

After the man came out of the house, officers located a firearm inside, he said. There were no injuries and the man was undergoing questioning at police headquarters where he will likely be booked on suspicion of brandishing a firearm and other weapons charges.
