Los Angeles firefighters prepared for a man in his mid- 20s to jump from a Hollywood high rise but managed to talk him out of harm’s way, authorities said.
The incident began with a report of the person threatening to jump from the 11th floor of a residential high rise in the 6500 block of Franklin Avenue, said Branden Silverman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The man was taken into police custody at 3:42 p.m. Saturday, a couple hours after the incident began, and was evaluated by paramedics at the scene, Silverman said.
Firefighters placed three rescue cushions around the high-rise in case the man did jump, he said.
