Ten horses and two goats died Wednesday after a fire erupted in an outbuilding in the Lake Los Angeles area, authorities said.
Around 12:45 p.m., Los Angeles fire crews responded to a reported structure fire in the 17000 block of Mossdale Avenue, county fire Inspector Joey Marron said.
“When the guys got there, it was (a structure) that housed horses and goats,” Marron said.
After the blaze was extinguished, fire crews discovered 10 dead horses and two goats, Marron said.
Two people were taken to a hospital suffering from smoke inhalation, he added.
Crews were able to knock down the fire within 15 minutes, authorities said.
Arson investigators remained on the scene, Marron said.
