A homeless man was sentenced Thursday to six years in state prison after pleading no contest to attacking an 11-year-old boy on a field trip outside the Walt Disney Concert Hall last December.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Craig Veals immediately imposed the term on Raul Villalba Ocampo following the 33-year-old defendant’s plea to one count of child abuse, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

The boy was standing outside the concert venue last Dec. 10 when Ocampo placed the boy in a chokehold, punctured his neck with a sharpened key and continued to hold the boy until security officers were able to intervene, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities said shortly after the attack that the boy’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Ocampo has remained jailed since his arrest that day, and there was no word of why the attack took place.
