A 23-year-old man was shot to death in a vehicle-to- vehicle shooting in El Monte, a sheriff’s deputy said Sunday.

The shooting was reported at 7:08 p.m. Saturday at Cogswell Road and Klingerman Street, said Deputy Lisa Jansen of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

The victim, who was a passenger in a truck, was involved in an argument with a suspect in another vehicle, according to Deputy Crystal Hernandez of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

The argument escalated into a shooting and the victim was shot in the upper torso. The suspect then fled, Hernandez.

Paramedics rushed the 23-year-old man to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the truck was not injured, she said.

The suspect’s vehicle, occupied by at least two men, was described as a dark-colored SUV, possibly a “Dodge,” she said.

Sheriff’s homicide detectives asked anyone with any information regarding the shooting to call them at (323) 890-5500.
