Police Sunday were hunting the gunman who fired a bullet that grazed a 60-year-old woman riding a bus in South Los Angeles.

Around noon Saturday, officers heard shots fired in the 5500 block of South Vermont Avenue and saw an armed man fleeing the scene, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Thomas Bojorquez.

It’s unclear what the man was shooting at, but one of the shots he fired penetrated a DASH bus and grazed the female passenger’s head, Bojorquez said.

The victim was hospitalized in stable condition.

The unidentified suspect got into a car after the shooting, got back out and fled on foot, Bojorquez said.

Officers are currently searching the immediate area for the gunman, he added.

The shooting incident might have been gang-related, Bojorquez said.
