An armed robbery suspect barricaded himself in a Carson neighborhood but was eventually taken into custody.
Crisis negotiators and a special weapons team from the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau were sent to the 18700 block of Towne Avenue Friday to try and get the male suspect to surrender peacefully, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The standoff began about 1 p.m., according to Sgt. Romeo Pascual of the sheriff’s Carson Station.
Gang investigators had attempted to question the suspect about his possible involvement in an armed robbery that occurred earlier this week, Pascual said.
The sheriff’s department announced about 7:30 p.m. that the suspect had been apprehended.
