A man who barricaded himself in a stranger’s garage for nearly three hours in Compton surrendered Wednesday morning without incident, authorities said.

The man was one of three people suspected in a shooting around 10 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Palm Street and Oleander Avenue.

Deputies heard gunshots and saw a vehicle in which the suspect was traveling in screech off at a high rate of speed, said the watch commander at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Compton Station. No one was injured in the shooting.

Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle and a short pursuit ensued. The driver was taken into custody but his two passengers fled the vehicle, authorities said.

One of the passengers barricaded himself in a stranger’s detached garage on Bullis Road, just north of Alondra Boulevard. Authorities didn’t immediately disclose if the homeowner was home, but no injuries were reported.

The suspect surrendered without incident around 1 a.m., authorities said. The other passenger who fled remained at large.
