
A boy was shot and wounded in Boyle Heights Wednesday afternoon, and the suspect was on the loose, police said.
The shooting occurred about 3:30 p.m. in the 100 block of South Utah Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The victim — reported by NBC4 to be 14 and a student at Mendez High School, which is located about three blocks from the shooting location — was in stable condition when taken to a hospital, according to the watch commander at the LAPD’s Hollenbeck Station.
A detailed description of the male suspect, who was armed with a handgun, was not immediately available, police said.
