The wife of television meteorologist Dallas Raines has been charged with assault for allegedly physically attacking the couple’s 25-year-old daughter as the women were on their way home from a La Canada country club, prosecutors said Thursday.

Danielle Raines, 58, of Pasadena, is charged with one felony count of assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury, according to Deputy District Attorney Jodi Taksar. Danielle Raines is the wife of ABC7 meteorologist Dallas Raines and the alleged victim is their adult daughter, according to Ricardo Santiago of the District Attorney’s Office.

Danielle Raines was allegedly drinking wine with her daughter at a country club Aug. 31 when she became belligerent and struck her daughter as she prepared to drive her mother home, the prosecutor said. On their way home, Danielle Raines allegedly resumed the attack, causing the younger woman to pull over, according to Taksar.

Danielle Raines then allegedly continued beating her daughter and tried to strangle her before she managed to escape, according to the prosecutor.

She is free on $30,000 bond and is due back in a Pasadena courtroom Oct. 24, when a date is scheduled to be set for a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to require her to stand trial. If convicted as charged, she could face up to four years in state prison.

Dallas Raines could not be reached for comment.
