An Australian man who allegedly slashed a security guard in the face with a knife at a Malibu home owned by supermodel Miranda Kerr was charged Tuesday with attempted murder and other counts.

Shaun Anthony “Esra” Haywood, 29, pleaded not guilty to one count each of attempted murder, aggravated mayhem and assault with a deadly weapon, along with an allegation that he inflicted great bodily injury on the guard.

Haywood allegedly went to the property on Oct. 14 to try to deliver a letter, then grabbed the guard’s knife and slashed his face after being confronted about being on the grounds. The guard then shot Haywood, according to prosecutors.

Witnesses told reporters that a shirtless man apparently jumped over a wall of the private compound and was confronted by the security guard.

Kerr, a former Victoria’s Secret model, was reportedly not at the home at the time.

Haywood, whose bail was set at $1.05 million, is due back in a Van Nuys courtroom Nov. 7 for a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to require him to stand trial.
