Two men got into an argument in a Burbank bar Thursday over the presidential election and immigration issues and one of them allegedly pulled a gun, resulting in two arrests, police said.

Officers were called just after 4 p.m. to Joe’s Bar at 4311 W. Magnolia Blvd., near Clybourn Avenue and the border with Los Angeles, to investigate a report of a man with a gun, according to Burbank Police.

“Witnesses and victims at the scene told officers there was an argument between two men inside the bar over the recent presidential election and illegal immigration,” according to a police statement.

“One of the men brandished a gun and left the location with another person in a vehicle.”

The suspects were located outside a vehicle at California Street and Chandler Boulevard and one of them, identified as 41-year-old Martin Pena of Van Nuys, was arrested on suspicion of being an ex-convict in possession of a firearm and brandishing a firearm, police said.

“The other man, Mark Van Dergeugten — a 47-year-old Granada Hills resident, was booked for driving under the influence,” police said.
