A commercial building across the Los Angeles River from downtown burned for nearly a half hour Sunday, and no one was injured as firefighters put it out.

The fire was at a building in the 700 block of Myers Street, just north of 7th Street and east of the Los Angeles River. It was reported at 1:28 p.m., according to L.A. Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.

The department dispatched 83 firefighters to the scene and knocked down the flames in 26 minutes, Humphrey said. Firefighters confined the blaze to the building’s attic.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remained under investigation, Humphrey said.
