Gun ranges aren’t supposed to be dangerous despite the obvious use of deadly firearms, but law enforcement authorities are investigating the gunshot killing of a man on just such a Southland gun range.
While initial reports indicated the shooting was accidental, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Monday was investigating.
The unidentified victim was hospitalized shortly before noon on Saturday but was later pronounced dead, deputies said.
Authorities did not disclose further details.
Mike Raahauge Shooting Enterprises, located at 14995 River Road in Riverside, closed Saturday afternoon while authorities investigated the incident, but reopened Sunday.
According to its website, the gun range offers private bays for pistol and rifle shooting, duck and pheasant hunting and a sporting clays course.
