A man who was barricaded inside a house in unincorporated Whittier for nearly six hours was in custody Sunday after a tense stadoff with a SWAT team, authorities said.
Specific charges are pending for the man who was suspected of assault with a deadly weapon, said Deputy Lisa Jansen of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Information Bureau.
Residents in surrounding homes, who were evacuated, were allowed to return home shortly after 8:30 p.m. Saturday, according to Jansen.
It started at 2:25 p.m. when a sheriff’s SWAT team surrounded the house in the 9900 block of Bona Vista Lane and set up a perimeter after tracing the suspect to that address, Jansen said.
