A 90-year-old man was being treated Friday for critical burns he suffered in a house fire in South Los Angeles.
The fire was reported Thursday night in at least two rooms of a one-story, single-family home in the 8900 block of South Van Ness Avenue, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The man was in critical condition when taken to a hospital, Stewart said.
Twenty-six firefighters responded and put the fire out in 13 minutes, she said.
It was not immediately known if there were working smoke alarms in the house, Stewart said, adding that the fire department has begun an arson investigation.
