A man in his 90s is in custody Wednesday after he allegedly used a shotgun to kill his wife, who was in her 70s, during an argument in a South Los Angeles home.
The Valentine’s Day shooting occurred just before 7 p.m. at the home in the area of 60th Street and Vermont Avenue, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the man was arrested, Lopez said. The identities of the gunman and the victim were not immediately released.
The shotgun believed to have been used in the slaying was recovered, Lopez said.
The man is 92 and the woman was 72, according to the Los Angeles Times and broadcast reports.
The victim and the suspect were the only residents at home at the time of the shooting, according to ABC7. A relative had been at the house earlier in the evening but left before the incident, investigators told the station.
