A man who led officers on a chase of nearly two hours through the San Fernando Valley before crashing into an automotive shop in North Hollywood was in custody Thursday, along with his passenger, police said.

The chase began just after 9 p.m. in the Burbank area, close to North Hollywood, where officers with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Metropolitan Division sought a suspect driving a stolen vehicle, said LAPD Officer Drake Madison.

The driver is believed to have abandoned the vehicle around 9:30 p.m. under an overpass in the area of the Hollywood (101) Freeway near the Ventura (134) Freeway, and when he emerged, he was seen driving a pickup with another male inside, police said.

The chase, which reached speeds of more than 100 mph, ended when the truck crashed into a light pole and automotive shop around 10:50 p.m. near the intersection of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Oxnard Street, where the driver was apprehended.

No civilians were believed to be injured in the chase or crash, police said.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the male passenger willingly participated in the chase, police said. He was taken into custody for questioning.
