A body was found in a riverbed by the San Gabriel River in South El Monte and sheriff’s homicide detectives Monday were investigating the grisly case.
Few details were yet available.
The body was located near Peck Road and Durfee Avenue just after 1 p.m. Sunday, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Art Marrujo.
Sheriff’s personnel were in the process of recovering the body as of late Sunday, Marrujo said.
The person’s gender is not yet known and their name will be withheld pending notification of kin.
The sheriff’s department has not yet released any information about the grisly discovery.
Authorities asked for public help in figuring out what happened.
