The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department released this photo of a 2016 Dodge Charger similar to the one stolen.

A tip line was working Tuesday for information leading to whomever stole an emergency-equipped unmarked sheriff’s department vehicle from an Alhambra car dealership.

The 2016 Dodge Challenger was stolen about 5:30 a.m. Sunday from the Alhambra Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership at 1100 W. Main St., according to Alhambra police Sgt. Steven Carr.

Surveillance video shows a male suspect walking into the service area of the dealership, approaching the Dodge, then driving it away, Carr said.

“The vehicle has no exterior markings which would identify it as an emergency vehicle,” Carr said. “However, it is equipped with an emergency light package which includes covert red, blue and white strobe lights.”

The black four-door car with chrome factory wheels and the license plate number 7MRA998 also is equipped with a sheriff’s department radio, but contained no weapons or other emergency equipment, Carr said.

Anyone with information about the theft was urged to call the 24-hour tip line that was set up by police Monday at (626) 308-4875.

The detective handling the case can be reached at (626) 570-5187.
