Police Friday were asking for the public’s assistance in locating a stolen truck that belongs to a Pasadena reserve police officer and contained firearms and police gear when it was taken.
The white 2000 Ford F250 crew cab pickup with a matching camper shell — California license plate number 6J54905 –was stolen from the 1100 block of Rosemont Avenue in Pasadena between 4:15 and 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, the Pasadena Police Department reported.
The vehicle contained a semi-automatic handgun and other law enforcement equipment, including a duty belt, a ballistic helmet, a ballistic vest, a gas mask, and ammunition, police said.
The community is reminded that as of Jan. 1, people leaving a handgun in an unattended vehicle are required to secure the handgun in a locked container out of plain view or in the vehicle’s locked trunk, police said.
“The Pasadena Police Department is aware of the incident and is reviewing whether the handgun was properly secured at the time of the theft,” the department said in a statement.
Anyone who may have information regarding this incident was asked to call the Pasadena Police Department at (626) 744-4241.
