Three people suffered minor injuries Friday evening when the small plane they were traveling in went down near a wash in El Monte.

Firefighters responded to a report of a plane down at 8:22 p.m. at the Rio Hondo River at Lower Azusa Road, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher.

The plane had came down on a dirt strip between a wash and a fence, the dispatcher said.

The three people on board were taken to a hospital for treatment of their injuries.

A small amount of fuel spilled and firefighters contained and cleaned the spill, the dispatcher said. There was no other damage reported.
