An 8-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle and critically injured Friday in South Los Angeles, according to officials.
The child was hit in the 600 block of W. 94th Street around 6:38 p.m. and taken to a local hospital in critical condition, said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

According to news reports, the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
