A man pleaded no contest Wednesday to assault with a deadly weapon for hitting a 17-year-old boy in the head with a metal pole while the teen was playing Pokemon Go in Long Beach last summer.
Jayson Louis Lingen, 57, was immediately sentenced to seven years in state prison.
The teenager was playing Pokemon Go when Lingen yelled at the youth and hit him in the head with a pole last Aug. 17, according to Deputy District Attorney Thushari Wijesinghe.
Lingen had a prior conviction from 2013 for assault with a deadly weapon, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
