An alleged gunman was in custody Thursday in the wounding of a 4-year-old boy shot in a gang-related incident in Compton as he sat in his mother’s vehicle.
It happened about 11:45 a.m. Wednesday at Compton Boulevard and Lime Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The boy was struck at least once in his upper body by gunfire, sheriff’s Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez said.
Investigators said the boy was in the back seat of his mother’s vehicle when hit by a stray bullet.
The child was in stable condition after undergoing surgery, according to the sheriff’s department.
Three men were arguing with two others outside a liquor store when at least one of them pulled a gun and six shots were fired, authorities said.
