A 32-year-old suspected kidnapper will make his first court appearance Tuesday after his arrest for beating and forcibly keeping his girlfriend against her will for at least a week, authorities said.

Jack Albert Davis was booked into the Azusa jail, according to Azusa Police Sgt. Robert Landeros.

Police were called at 7 p.m. Friday to the 400 block of East Eighth Street by a 32-year-old Azusa woman who told police she fled her apartment after her boyfriend held her at least one week, Landeros said. “During the time she was held against her will by the suspect, he allegedly beat her repeatedly causing serious injuries to her face and body.”

The woman was taken to a hospital, he said.

Detectives identified the suspect as Jack Davis of Azusa and quickly located and arrested him just after midnight Saturday, Landeros said.

“It was also discovered that Davis was on Post-Release Community Supervision.”

Davis was booked for suspicion of kidnapping, domestic violence, false imprisonment and assault with a deadly weapon, the sergeant said. He was being held without bail due to his post-release status.

A Tuesday court appearance was set in West Covina, according to the sheriff’s inmate information.
