Authorities Wednesday identified the man who authorities say fatally shot his wife in Lancaster before he turned the gun on himself.
The pair died at the scene of the shooting, which occurred about 12:20 a.m. Monday in the 6300 block of Starview Drive, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.
The coroner’s office identified the woman as 35-year-old Jamie Matthews and the gunman as 39-year-old Clyde Matthews.
It wasn’t known what the couple argued about. No details were provided by authorities about the relationship of the husband and wife.
Deputies found the woman dead at a neighbor’s property and found her husband dead inside the couple’s nearby residence, according to the sheriff’s department.
The preliminary investigation revealed they got into an argument and the woman left the residence to go to a neighbor’s house, according to the sheriff’s department. Her husband followed and shot her in front of the neighbor’s residence, then returned to their home and shot himself, investigators said.
No one else was inside the home when the shooting occurred.
