Firefighters Sunday knocked down a two-acre, medium- to-heavy brush fire near the Baldwin Park community of Los Angeles.
Firefighters were dispatched to the 3700 block of South La Brea Avenue at 12:14 p.m. and had the fire out at 1:21 p.m., said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

“Precise aerial water drops and an aggressive ground attack, combined with good brush clearance by residents aided in the defense of homes,” Stewart said.
No structures were damaged,” she said. “Some resources are being released but traffic on La Brea Avenue will continue to be affected while crews remain in place for mop-up of all hot spots.”
La Brea Avenue has been closed for an undetermined amount of time from Coliseum Street to Stocker Street.
