A small electrical fire at a residential care facility in Lomita resulted in the temporary relocation of 60 patients, authorities said.

The blaze inside an electrical panel at a care facility in the 1900 block of Lomita Boulevard was reported at 5:38 p.m., the sheriff’s department reported.

Deputies from the Lomita station assisted L.A. County firefighters in extinguished the fire inside the panel and in evacuating the patients from the facility, according to the sheriff’s department.

Some of the patients were sent home to their families. Others were sent to other facilities or to hospitals by ambulances, the department reported.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remained under investigation.

The building suffered extensive smoke damage and the lass was put at between $4,000 and $5,000.
