A man and woman suspected of driving a stolen vehicle and leading police on a brief chase were taken into custody after fighting with officers who were trying to arrest them in Manhattan Beach.

Use of force was used to take the man and woman into custody, resulting in minor injuries for the suspects and an officer, according to Manhattan Beach police Sgt. Matt Sabosky.

The short pursuit began around 8:50 p.m. Friday in the area of 35th Street and Palm Avenue, Sabosky said.

The chase ended when the suspects crashed into three vehicles in the area of 35th Street and Sepulveda Boulevard.

The other drivers involved in the crash complained of pain but no one was taken to a hospital, Sabosky said.

The vehicle also crashed into a guard rail in the area before the suspects fled on foot into the Manhattan Village shopping center where they were arrested.
