What was first reported as a spot fire near the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway in the Gorman area Friday quickly turned into a 100-acre two-alarm blaze, authorities said.
No structures were threatened by the fire, which was reported about 3:30 p.m. south of Gorman Post Road, east of the freeway, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
County and U.S. Forest Service firefighters mounted a ground and air attack but within two hours the fire had burned about 100 acres.
The blaze was holding at 100 acres just after 6 p.m. and was 75 percent contained, the county fire department reported.
Winds in the area were relatively light, a fire department dispatcher said.
