A man was killed Wednesday walking across the northbound lanes of the Golden Gate (5) Freeway in Boyle Heights, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash was reported at 1:08 a.m. near Cesar Chavez Avenue, said CHP Officer Tony Polizzi.
The man was walking in the lanes when he was struck by a Nissan Sentra driven by 22-year-old Huy Van Thanh Do of Winchester, the CHP reported. The victim died at the scene, Polizzi said.
The accident prompted the closure of the northbound No. 4 and 5 lanes as well as the Cesar Chavez Avenue off-ramp until about 3 a.m.
