A 22-year-old woman riding on a motorcycle in the darkness a couple hours after midnight was killed when she fell off the bike and was struck by a car on the Artesia (91) Freeway in Long Beach.
The death on the westbound 91, east of Cherry Avenue, occurred at 2:11 a.m. Sunday, the California Highway Patrol reported.
A 2001 Suzuki was moving westbound in the No. 5 lane when the woman, a resident of Long Beach, fell off the motorcycle and onto the No. 4 lane of traffic, where she was struck by a 2001 Toyota.
She was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:28 a.m., the CHP reported.
