A mysterious woman’s body was found about dawn Thursday on the sands of Venice beach.

There were few details yet available about the grisly discovery as police tried to solve the mystery death.

However, officers said the women appeared to be in her 40s, and the body likely washed up onto shore from Santa Monica Bay.

The body was discovered about 6:30 a.m. near the 1500 block of Ocean Front Walk, said Los Angeles Police Officer Sal Ramirez.

The woman was in her 40s, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

There was no immediate word of the condition of the body, how long it had been in the water, the victim’s identity or the cause of death.
