A couple who ran a South Los Angeles private school are scheduled to be arraigned Monday on charges of repeatedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old student in 2000.
Joseph Horace Green, 52, and Chanell Nicola Warren, 43, fled the Southland when the alleged assaults were reported to police in March 2000, but they were arrested last month in Florida, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors said the couple ran the K-12 Enlightened Minds School, and Green approached the teen in early 2000. The pair allegedly sexually assaulted the girl at an RV parked in front of their home, then assaulted her again over the next several weeks, according to prosecutors.
Green is charged with four counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and one count each of sodomy and sexual penetration by a foreign object. Warren is charged with one count of sexual penetration by a foreign object and six counts of oral copulation of a person under age 18. Green faces around six months in prison if convicted, while Warren is facing up to eight years.
