A man was killed when he was hit by a passenger train while pushing a shopping cart near railroad tracks in Santa Fe Springs, authorities said Monday.
It happened about 7:10 p.m. Sunday at Rosecrans and Marquardt avenues, said Lt. J. Tatman of the Whittier Police Department, which is investigating the death.
The man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, Tatman said.
The Amtrak train stopped and train traffic was limited during the police investigation, he said. The intersection of Rosecrans and Marquardt avenues was also closed to traffic. There were no injuries aboard the train.
The victim’s identity was not disclosed, nor was there any word if the man was homeless.
