
Some good Samaritans rescued four people that were in two vehicles that crashed and caught fire Thursday on the Riverside (91) Freeway east of Anaheim.
And one of the Samaritans was reported to be an off duty Los Angeles police officer, who witnessed the reported 7:12 a.m. crash on the eastbound freeway at the Weir Canyon Road onramp, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crashed vehicles careened left and right, and came to rest in the Fastrak and number 1 lane, and in the number 4 lane of the eastbound 91 Freeway at Weir Canyon,.
One of the vehicles involved in the crash was a gray Toyota and at least one of the vehicles flipped over, with both eventually erupting in fire.
At 7:42 a.m.. the all traffic was stopped and the Weir Canyon Road offramp was shut down for at least 30 minutes, the CHP reported.
At 8:24 a.m., the 1,2, and 3 lanes of the eastbound freeway were opened, with all but the Fastrak lanes reopened at 8:32 a.m.
