A motorcyclist was killed Thursday in a high-speed collision in Lakewood.
The crash was reported about 2:05 p.m. at the intersection of Paramount and Del Amo boulevards, according to Sgt. Steve Moses of the Lakewood sheriff’s station.
A car was southbound on Paramount Boulevard, making a left turn, when it was struck by a northbound motorcycle traveling at speeds topping 80 mph, Moses said.
The motorcyclist, a 23-year-old Lakewood man whose name was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car suffered minor injuries. She was taken to a hospital to be checked out, Moses said.
“Obviously speed was a factor,” the sergeant said.
The intersection was closed while authorities investigated the crash.
